Hi! My name is Anixi! 🐾 I am a little 12 year o Hi! My name is Anixi! 🐾 I am a little 12 year old gorgeous puggle. I was brought into the dogters when I was showing I was sore in my belly and found it really hard to wee! My bladder soon became quite painful and uncomfortable. Gratefully my beautiful family took me to see the Dogter and they worked out I had huge bladder stones! 🥺🤯 Dogter Adam and the lovely team did a fantastic surgery and removed these stones without any concern. I feel so much relief and so much happier already. I am now nice and warm in my bed for the night, looking forward to some dindins and cannot wait to see my family tomorrow! 💛✨

Appreciation to our amazing clients and to our vet Appreciation to our amazing clients and to our vets! ✨👏

Meet Masai, he came in with his beautiful owner Christine when Masai was not his usual bubbly self and showed abdominal discomfort.

Dr Adam discussed potential diagnostics, thoroughly explaining each step and possible outcomes with Christine. The initial diagnostics showed a large abdominal mass.

Christine gratefully stated; ‘Adam is a great listener and showed such compassion and understanding. We told him about Masai life’s story, showed him some photos and he understood the dilemma we were facing making decisions with Masai being 16.5yrs old. I was impressed at how he had researched the potential outcomes of different tumours and this ultimately helped in our decision to go ahead with the surgery.’

The surgery resulted in an Exploratory Laparotomy including histopathology sent to the IDEXX Laboratory, intense hospitalisation and nurse care for the following few days. Masai then went home and the above photo is when he came in for his post op recheck with Dr Adam!

Christine continued and said; ‘Masai is now trotting along the beach, climbing the stairs to second floor, eating well and putting on weight! I think 12 days post op he had forgotten what had happened and started to play with a foxy puppy on the beach!!! I just know that’s he (Masai) is grateful, he’s a very loving little family member and mate.’

Great team work and the skills deserve to be recognised and we are very, very grateful for everyone at Nicklin Way. ♥️💙

Thankyou Christine! 👏✨⭐️ #vet #nicklinwayvetsurgery #medical #goodstory #thankyou

This is Annika, she is one of our Vets special gir This is Annika, she is one of our Vets special girl. She was ever so brave and donated blood recently to help save lives.

Her donation, like any cases here, are only collected if an emergency arises and it’s immediately needed, but it can be stored up to four weeks.

Busy emergency hospitals or specialist centres require blood donations a lot more than us, but we value it as liquid gold.

We love this girl, she is so special. ♥️ #donatelife #medical #vet #goldenretriever

✨Tuesday Case Study! ✨ **surgical image warni ✨Tuesday Case Study! ✨
**surgical image warning**

This case study involves a gorgeous little Boston girl that came in and saw Dr Doug. She is a phenotypically female dog with a well developed Os Clitoridis. 🩺

Canine hermaphrodite is a genetic abnormality which can sometimes lead to a peculiar appearance. Many dogs will go undiagnosed as inter-sexed and presumably live normal lives with unaltered temperaments and behaviours. 🐾

Hermaphrodites happen when chromosome abnormality occurs. As a result, this produces an animal that has reproductive tissue of both sexes as you can see in the radiographs and the photos. ⭐️

Although this is a rarity, there can either be an ovary on one side and testicle on the other (lateral hermaphrodite) or, a combined ovary-testis on each side (bilateral hermaphrodite) as seen in this interesting case Dr Doug desexed as well as surgically amputated her fused caudal vertebrae (tail) that was causing pain and discomfort. 🤯 #casestudy #medicallife #caninecompanions @nicklinwayvetsurgery

Is remembering your dog’s monthly heartworm chew Is remembering your dog’s monthly heartworm chew a challenge? 🤔An annual heartworm prevention injection could be the solution!🥳 For October & November we are offering a free heartworm screening test for dogs before they start the annual treatment.❣️
Peak heartworm season has started with the warmer days and nights and increasing humidity. Perfect for mozzies breed and carry heartworm from one dog to another! A single bite from a mosquito can be enough.🦟
While regular preventatives are the best protection, they are so easy to forget! If the monthly chew is forgotten or given late, your dog is vulnerable to infection.
There is an annual heartworm preventative injection available. Super convenient and perfect for those of us who struggle with remembering the chews! For around the same cost as 12-months of chews you can have the reassurance that your dog is protected all year round.
Before starting the annual injection, all dogs must have a screening test to ensure they do not already have heartworm. Great news – book in for your dog to receive the annual heartworm injection for the first time in October or November we will do the test for free! This test normally costs $74❣️
This offer is available to all dogs new to the annual heartworm injection and is valid for injections given in October and November 2023 only. Book now by calling 07 5493 2655.
